EBOLA ALERT! NCDC RAISES FRESH CONCERN AS TWO SUSPECTED CASES EMERGE IN NORTH EAST

Uncategorized

Nigeria’s efforts to contain the Ebola disease have recorded another development, following the identification of two suspected cases in the North-East region of the country.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) announced this on Saturday, October 31, 2026, confirming that both individuals had been isolated while laboratory investigations were ongoing.

The agency also disclosed that contact identification and listing had commenced to establish possible exposure and prevent further transmission.
However, the NCDC cautioned Nigerians against interpreting the development as confirmation of two new Ebola infections, stressing that their status would depend on the outcome of laboratory tests.

The development comes barely days after Nigeria confirmed an imported case of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in the Federal Capital Territory on October 20, involving a 42-year-old woman with a travel history from Uganda.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has urged Nigerians to remain calm, maintain proper hand hygiene, practise improved sanitation and follow public health guidelines as investigations continue.
The agency promised to provide further updates as verified information becomes available.
