Former commissioner for information in Ekiti State,RT HON.Taiwo Olatunbosun, has cautioned the Ohanaeze Youth Council against linking Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji to the reported attack on African Action Congress (AAC) presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, insisting that the matter should be left to security agencies to investigate.
Olatunbosun, in a statement, described the council’s allegation of the governor’s complicity as premature and politically motivated, arguing that no credible evidence had been presented to support the claim.
He noted that the Ekiti State Government had already dissociated itself from the incident and called on the police to investigate and bring anyone found responsible to justice.
Referring to the police account, Olatunbosun said preliminary findings indicated that the incident followed an altercation at a food outlet in Ado-Ekiti. He added that the police had confirmed Sowore was rescued, treated for his injuries and that suspects had been arrested.
He urged the Ohanaeze Youth Council and other interested groups to avoid politicising the incident or reaching conclusions before the investigation is concluded, stressing that allegations against public officials should be supported by evidence.
Olatunbosun also defended Oyebanji’s record on political tolerance, arguing that it was unfair to accuse the governor of sponsoring violence without established facts.
