Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over reports that security personnel were deployed to guard his billboards in Kaduna State, questioning the government’s priorities amid persistent insecurity across the country.
Atiku, in a statement reacting to the reports, said the protection reportedly provided to the president’s billboards contrasted sharply with the security challenges facing millions of Nigerians.
“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards,” Atiku said.
He noted that bandit attacks on villages, terrorist assaults on communities and the fear experienced by families across the country remained major concerns, arguing that the protection of the president’s campaign materials should not receive greater attention than the safety of citizens.
“Your posters enjoy protection that millions of Nigerians can only dream of. What a tragic statement of your government’s priorities,” the former vice president added.
Atiku urged Tinubu to demonstrate the same urgency in addressing the country’s security challenges as that reportedly devoted to protecting his public image.
“Bola, please protect Nigerians with the same urgency you protect your image!” he said.
The former vice president’s comments come amid constant attack on the campaign materials of the president.
