The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has issued a stern warning to the Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture over alleged encroachment on the land of Radio Nigeria Progress FM along the Ado-Iworoko Road in Ado Ekiti.
The Director-General of FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama, said the Corporation would not tolerate unauthorised occupation of its property, warning the ministry to vacate the portion of land reportedly affected by the encroachment.
In a statement issued by the corporation,Bulama stressed that no property belonging to FRCN nationwide had been put up for sale under the Corporation’s ongoing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements.
He warned members of the public against dealing with individuals allegedly involved in the unauthorised sale or occupation of FRCN properties, describing such transactions as fraudulent.
According to the Director-General, the Corporation’s PPP projects in Lagos, Ibadan, Owerri and Kaduna are designed to address the challenges posed by ageing and increasingly expensive broadcast infrastructure while generating funds for its renewal.
Bulama, however, made it clear that these arrangements did not authorise anyone to encroach on or sell the Corporation’s landed properties.
The FRCN chief specifically addressed the situation involving Progress FM’s land along the Ado-Iworoko Road, stating that the alleged encroachment by the Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture would not be treated lightly.
He warned the ministry against occupying the already graded portion of the land without authorisation and called for the affected area to be vacated.
The warning raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the alleged occupation of land belonging to a federal broadcasting institution by a state government ministry.
FRCN reiterated its commitment to protecting its assets across the country against encroachment and fraudulent transactions.
