Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Adekunle Fajuyi Memorial Park in Ado-Ekiti, a day after a new 25-foot statue of the late military officer was installed at the historic site.
The inspection forms part of efforts to transform the memorial park into a modern tourist and recreational centre while preserving the legacy of Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, the former military governor of the defunct Western Region.
When completed, the reconstructed park is expected to feature a viewing centre, food court, mini museum, shopping area, children’s section, meeting rooms, a dome and a tower offering panoramic views of Ado-Ekiti.
The project is also expected to create recreational opportunities, attract tourists and strengthen Ekiti State’s tourism potential.
The new statue is a major feature of the redevelopment, giving renewed prominence to the memory of Fajuyi, who remains an important figure in Nigeria’s military and political history.
