The League of Imams and Alfas in Ekiti State has urged Muslims to intensify prayers for Nigeria’s peace, economic recovery and national development, while promoting religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

The President-General of the League, Sheikh Jamiu Bello Kewulere, made the call during the organisation’s meeting hosted by Oye Local Government at the Central Mosque, Ire-Ekiti, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the League’s Secretary, Imam Olohunkemi Abdul Fattah, through its Media Officer I, Imam Yusuf T. Akeusola, Kewulere acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigerians and urged citizens to contribute to national development rather than place the responsibility on one individual.

He commended Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as his inclusive treatment of Muslims and Christians, while encouraging support for initiatives aimed at promoting harmony and development.

The clerics also offered prayers for the governor and paid a courtesy visit to the Onire of Ire-Ekiti, Oba Victor Adeleke Bobade Okeoro II, who commended the delegation and described the visit as a blessing to the community.

The League said its next meeting would be hosted by Ijero Local Government.
